Fitzgerald ISU novel
The quote that was expressed was absolutely accurate in regards to literature. When you are reading a novel or a piece of literature you become a character in the novel. You feel like you belong and are part of the story. The story line also usually entertains you. It is a new world that you become and belong to. Fitzgerald was one of the great American authors. His books alone always keep the readers engaged and able to be apart of the story. Reading keeps you entertained and never bored. When you begin to really enjoy a certain book it is a struggle to be able to put the book down. This just shows how involved with a book a person can be. The love of reading it very much expressed here in Fitzgerald's quote.
Frogs Play Unit
The ancient play unit taught us a lot I thought. The one thing that I really noticed was that us as the readers related our regular day life to the play. The play Frogs is known as a humorous play. The humor that was in this play was similar to the humor that we have today. This helped with the understanding of the play. This could also be one of the main reasons why we still study these types of plays today, so we can see how it relates to our lives. We can compare the similarities but also observe the differences that take place in the play.
Some specific obstacles that I personally found I had to overcome for my dramatic reading was the pronunciation of words. Especially the names of the certain people in the play. I faced it with confidence, which helped me with my presentation. I enjoy very much presenting and acting things out. I find this is a strength I have discovered. I very much enjoyed participating in the dramatic readings.

The Reading I Enjoy
Through out my life I haven't always enjoyed reading. I found when I was quite young I couldn't focus on reading for a long period of time. When I attended grade 1 we were given readers and asked to read them to our parents. I recall reading these readers always to my father but after the first 15 minutes of me reading he would soundly fall asleep, I don't blame him one bit, they were quite boring. My siblings and I always were extremely energetic. We would always be running around, playing hide and go seek, or creating some sort of trouble in the house. Therefore I never really found time for reading. But once I began attending the other grades such as grade 6,7 and 8 my reading patterns began to improve. My first real series I enjoyed was the Shopaholic series written by Sophie Kinsella. Most recently I have found my love for reading. This past summer I read some of my most favourite books. They happened to be Looking For Alaska by John Green, Fault in Our Stars also written by John Green, The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde, This Side of Paradise by F. Scott Fitzgerald and Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse. I can truly say now that I have grown to love the act of reading.
Passonate About Assignment
I found my strongest part in this project was the
scriptwriter as well as the performer. My ability to perform has gotten quite
good through out the years and I have become very comfortable with doing this.
I enjoy acting as well, which helps immensely. I enjoyed very much writing the
script for this play. Seeing how we had no limit with topic the limit was
endless. This allowed us to be extremely creative with whatever we chose. Hearing
all of the radio plays demonstrated the creative ability of the class. The students
very much enjoyed creating the plays themselves. The students were passionate
about the project, which makes for an enjoyable assignment. When passion shows
it tells the teacher that the students really tried with their assignment. These
are the things I learned personally while working on my play as well as
listening to the plays.

A Streetcar Named Desire: Adaptation Personal Response
A Streetcar Named
Desire: Adaptation Personal Response
Throughout the play A Streetcar
Named Desire, many theatrical elements were used to show the director’s
theatrical style of directing. Elia Kazan, the director, applied things such as
lighting, sound and music to help the viewers understand her style of filming.
Lighting, music and sound contribute to the scene in a grand way. Their
contribution not only helps the audience comprehend what the director wants to
portray but also it makes the scene come to life. The director demonstrates the
change in the plot by using appropriate lighting techniques as well as music
and sound. The scene is awoken through these useful elements.
Lighting and tone was indeed a key element in the make up of this production.
Considering that the play was made in 1951 the play was shown in black and
white. However, by the play being shown in black and white it almost allows the
audience to really apprehend and witness the shadows themselves. At the
beginning of the scene the lights are turned on and are bright. This sets the
mood of the scene. The mood of this scene starts off with being bubbly and
simple, hence the properly chosen lighting. Once Stanley changes the mood and
begins to interrogate Blanche the lighting does indeed change. Stanley’s last
line to Blanche in this scene is, “Shaw
must’ve got you mixed up. He goes in and out of Laurel all the time so he can
check on it and clear up any mistake,” (90). The lighting in the scene
automatically changes when Stanley leaves the room and Blanche realizes that
they might know her secret. The director cuts out the lights in the scene and
lighting immediately shoots through the window. It allows the views to see this
scene as more dramatic now.
Music and sound also contributes
to the drama in this specific scene. Music can change the feeling and mood of
the scene and how the characters act. This director introduced emotional
classical music in the scene when the problem arose. The music picks up after
Blanche says, “You’ve got to be soft and attractive. And I – I’m fading now! I
don’t know how much longer I can turn the trick,” (92). What this quote
states is how the characters are feeling and are trying to demonstrate to the
audience. The music helps this along and allows everything to be more
interesting. I think this is exactly what the director was trying to do with
the dramatic soft classical music. When the mood of the scene changes slightly
the music stops but starts back up again when the dramatic tone reenters.
Overall the director ultimately tried and succeeded with the lighting
and sound. I found it fit the scene and was indeed extremely appropriate. The
mood of the characters was shown through the music and sound in this scene. The
lighting truly was affective in this scene as well. The techniques that the
director used were very fitting and useful in this play. These techniques are
appealing and exciting to the audience. This is what makes the play come to
life.

Questions of Life
11. What would you do with the last day of your
life?
I would first begin by spending,
as much time as I can with loved ones. The next thing that would be done on
this day would be all the many things I enjoy doing. Remembering all of the
memories that I have had and experienced would be another thing that occurs on
this day.
21. What would your final words/ thoughts be?
My final words would be words
along the lines of encouragement, thanks, and happiness. Everything that I have
lived for and believed in would all be connected with the last words that I
would have. Religion, family, friends, and everything I believe in would be my
last words.
Word Cloud Thoughts
Some of the major themes, symbols, and big ideas were quite obvious and did stand out. However the most unique ones are secretly hidden inside the text. Themes such as fear, gender, and fate stood out to me especially in this text. What the word cloud did was it truly portray these words as a whole. Once the image was created I found it actually made these words come to life. They were not just words anymore but actual physical problems and emotions that are represented in this book, A Thousand Splendid Suns. These are the secret words that are not written one paper that make up this book. Being a reader it allows us to really understand the overall picture and message the book is giving us. With out these key devices the readers are simply lost with how to perceive the book. This word cloud just allows the readers to see it more clear and to get the overall image. It is a powerful device, portraying the words in a picture. The image of a hand was selected for this word cloud to represent the laws that are enforced in Afghanistan at the time. The sign of a hand also represents stopping of something. The power of stopping something plays an important role in this book. All of these reasons are artistically shown in my word cloud.
